Getting started
Lineage is an MMORPG that NCSoft released in Korea in 1998, based on Shin Il-sook's comic of the same name. It is known for castle sieges, Blood Pledge wars and the lawful/chaotic alignment system. Lineage Justice is a private server running client 8.8c.
Follow the three steps under Start playing on the homepage: sign in or register, create a game account in Dashboard → Game accounts, then play on the live server. New characters start on Talking Island.
Knight and Warrior are the most beginner-friendly classes. Knights have high defense and HP, making them forgiving to play. Warriors deal high damage and can solo efficiently. Both teach fundamental combat mechanics without complex spell management.
Yes. Lineage Justice is free to play, with no pay-to-win items. All game content is open to every player.
The game server isn't reporting rates right now; the Server info page shows them once it does.
Account and security
Sign in with Discord, or register at /register with an email, username and password. Email sign-ups get a confirmation link that is valid for 24 hours. Then open Dashboard → Game accounts and create the login you type into the game client.
For an email account, choose "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page and we email you a reset link, valid for one hour. If you sign in with Discord, recover your Discord account through Discord. Game-account passwords are changed in Dashboard → Game accounts.
Discord sign-in never shows us your Discord password. Email accounts store only a salted hash of your password, never the password itself. Dashboard → Security lists your active sessions.
Our policy allows one account per player. Multi-accounting to gain unfair advantages (multiple siege participants, self-trading for profit, etc.) is not permitted and may result in all associated accounts being banned.
Gameplay
Death in Lineage has consequences. You may lose experience points and potentially drop items depending on your karma/alignment status. This makes survival meaningful and adds weight to your decisions.
Lineage Justice features 8 playable classes: Knight, Warrior, Royal (Prince/Princess), Mage, Elf, Dark Elf, Dragon Knight, and Illusionist. Each has unique abilities and playstyles.
Enchanting improves your equipment's stats but comes with risk. Higher enchant levels have lower success rates and may destroy your item on failure. Blessed scrolls provide safer enchanting options.
Technical
A Windows PC. Lineage is a classic game with modest requirements; any modern PC runs it.
Try these steps: 1) Check your internet connection, 2) Restart the client, 3) Run the client as administrator, 4) Check that your firewall or antivirus is not blocking the game, 5) Check the server status on the Server info page. If it still fails, post in the support channel on our Discord, discord.gg/pgMESbueZM.
Common fixes: 1) Update your graphics drivers, 2) Run in compatibility mode (Windows 7), 3) Disable fullscreen optimizations, 4) Reinstall the client. Known issues are posted on our Discord, discord.gg/pgMESbueZM, and staff can help there with crashes that keep coming back.
We only test on Windows. Some players run the client under Wine or Proton; we can't support that setup.
Economy
Adena comes from killing monsters, selling items to NPCs and trading with other players. Players share hunting spots and prices on our Discord, discord.gg/pgMESbueZM.
Use the in-game trade window, which shows both players' items before confirming. Never drop items expecting payment. For large trades, consider using trusted middlemen from established pledges. Report scammers to staff.
Prices follow supply and demand. Check the Market page, ask in trade chat, or ask in the market channel on our Discord, discord.gg/pgMESbueZM. Rare drops, high-enchant gear and event items sell for the most.
PvP and sieges
PvP is unrestricted outside safe zones (towns). Killing players without provocation makes you chaotic (red name), which increases death penalties and allows others to attack you without consequences. Pledge wars enable penalty-free PvP between declared enemies.
The Server info page shows who holds each castle and the next siege time for each, read live from the game server. Siege announcements go on the Updates page.
Join a Blood Pledge whose Prince or Princess declares war on the castle's owners before the siege starts; only pledges at war with the castle take part. Attackers destroy the Guardian Tower, and then their Prince or Princess takes the crown in the inner castle.
Towns and certain areas are safe from PvP. You cannot attack or be attacked in these zones. Safe zones are indicated visually and serve as gathering spots, markets, and rest areas.
Community
Look for recruitment posts in global chat or in the recruitment channel on our Discord, discord.gg/pgMESbueZM. Some pledges focus on PvP and others on hunting; ask about their play times before you join.
Only Royal (Prince/Princess) class characters can create and lead Blood Pledges. Level up your Royal to the required level, gather the creation fee, and visit the pledge NPC in any major town.
Collect screenshots or video, then post a report in the support channel on our Discord, discord.gg/pgMESbueZM, with character names, times and what happened. Staff will investigate.
